Credit: Kirsten Pribula
When: Through Jan. 26; 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday
Where: Beavercreek Community Theatre, 3868 Dayton-Xenia Road
Details: Charles Buschâs funny, naughty, queer-friendly and camp-tastic comedic thriller âDie Mommie Die!,â is directed with uninhibited glee by Chris Harmon. John-Michael Lander, exquisitely costumed in 1960s glamour by Janet Powell, is melodramatic as washed-up Hollywood entertainer Angela Arden, who murders her severely constipated film producer-husband Sol (comically committed Becky Howard) to the horror of her dysfunctional children Edith (playful Amber Todd) and Lance (eccentric Maren Wasser). Amy Taint as Angelaâs Bible-thumping maid-turned-nemesis Bootsie Carp and Everett Green as Angelaâs boytoy Tony Parker also accent Buschâs silliness. In addition to Harmonâs attractive scenic design, praiseworthy artistic contributions extend to Andrew Darrâs striking lighting design particularly late in Act 2, Diane Strohmâs humorous props, and David Shermanâs exceptional projection design that establishes period and tone with kooky finesse.
